Scientific and economic potential of area define 13 large industrial and 14 agricultural enterprises, and also 3 All-Russia research centres.

Vidnoje supports brother-like relations with Tuusula (Finland), the city of Nuvara Elija (Sri Lanka) and a commune Losser (Netherlands).
The area of Lenin district is 47526 hectares, the population — 131 thousands. The area is divided into 12 districts. Lenin district consists of 1 city, 1 settlement of city type, 126 rural settlements.»
The historical bulletin
In 1935 the General plan of development of Moscow has been accepted. Then the it was decided to build near Moscow of a big factory for capital maintenance with cheap fuel and foundry coke. A place for factory was chosen in Leninsky district along the Kashirskoe highway, and it has defined the future Vidnoje.
Building of the factory has begun in October, 1937. From different corners of the country experienced workers have arrived. For habitation of builders wooden barracks in so-called temporary settlement have been erected. In the middle of the work Great Patriotic War has begun and suspended the process of building. In already constructed buildings warehouses, workshops for combat material repair have taken place.
After a victory over fascism the building has been continued. And in 1949 in three kilometres, erection of working settlement has begun. Architect B. V. Efimovich and engineer-designer A. M. Ruzsky became authors of the project. The central streets of settlement — Shkolnaya, Sadovaya, Zavodskaya, Radialnaya and others have been built up by two-storeyed brick houses of original and irregular shape. Shops, schools, polyclinic, a kindergardens, the Recreation centre and other public buildings have been constructed. The working settlement has received the traditional name Vidnoje.
Vidnoje today
Today Vidnoje is a centre of Leninsky district of Moscow Region. In 1995 Vidnoje enjoyed 30 years anniversary. It is one of Moscow suburbs cities where a lot of attention is is given to educational, culture and public health services. Technical equipment of schools here as good as in the capital city.
There are School of arts, a cinema, the Recreation centre, children’s town, stadium, pool, ballet, theatrical, literary and other studios. Medical institutions have the modern diagnostic and medical equipment. This area is rich with history and the traditions.
The people of Vidnoje
But the most valuable treasure is people who live and work here. That is why our district becoming better and better each day.
The main eye-catcher of the district are sports. The pride Vidnoje is the Woman Basketball Club «Spartak» which has more recently received a residence permit in a new modern Palace of sports. In the last season the team has won at once both Championship of Russia, and EuroLeague. «Spartak» has made Vidnoje known not only in Russia, but also all over the world.
